“Castellers” - human towers

Today at Bürkliplatz we had a show of “castellers”img_6633.jpg, the traditional Catalan “sport” of making human towers. The Catalan club in Zürich had managed to get the middle-tier Arboç team (Minyons de l’Arboç) to come for a show to celebrate the national holiday of last weekend. (Click on a picture to see a larger version). They didn’t take risks —there were not enough locals helping build a strong first floor, and they had not been able to rest after their 16-hour bus trip— but we got some nice castles: If I recall correctly, one 4-floor welcome pillar, one 6-floor 2-wide tower, one 6-floor 4-wide tower with needle inside, two without needle, and a dual pillar (no picture — I was helping build the first floor!). No fallen towers!

Here’s a video of a 6-floor 4-wide tower (AVI, 31Mbyte).
